Cover Page

From the cover page, I am trying to get a sense of how you communicate and why you want to be a psychotherapist. I am also interested in why you’d like supervision from me (versus another practitioner and/or site.

List of applicable skills

This can be a page that lists philosophies, approaches and/or skills that you learned through your education, from non-psychotherapeutic work environments, or from a related field. These should be skills that showcase why you think you would be a successful practicum candidate or private practice clinician. Essentially, this list should give me as confidence in overseeing you and referring clients to you. I know you will have lots to learn, but this page should show me why it’s likely that you will be successful and cause no harm to clients as you learn.

education and work experience

Your last page should give a sense of where you’ve worked (pair or unpaid) and where/what you’ve learned through your education to date. If you provide any details about these experiences, they should also link back to skills/learning/assets that you believe will help you as a psychotherapist in the future. For example, I used to work in advertising - so my resume showcases how this work taught me to understand, empathize and support people through stress and help to collaborate toward creative, but strategically relevant solutions. These are similar things we do with clients!
