You are not alone

Your emotions are valid. You are worthy of Love.

With the growing pressures of social media, culture and society, it is all too easy to lose our sense of self and get lost in self-hate, anxiety, depression and unhealed trauma. The silver lining – with the right tools, we are more than capable of healing and navigating through this.

Hello! I’m Brenda, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and mental health advocate. I strive to help my clients build genuine self-love, confidence, and security within themselves to navigate life's growing pressures effectively.

I aim to create a warm, empathetic, safe, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard. You are the expert in your life, so my approach will always be collaborative, ensuring that you always have a say in our treatment goals. I plan to work from a trauma-informed lens to address issues around self-esteem, body image, stress, anxiety, and depression. The treatment approaches I would use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I have 5 years of experience in the mental health field working as an Intake Counsellor at Strides Toronto, a Disability Services Coordinator at Homewood Health, and a distress centre volunteer. I am certified with Mental Health First Aid, ASIST and SafeTALK and have extensive experience handling crisis situations and de-escalating high emotional states. I am completing my Master of Arts (MA) in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and have a Bachelor of Science (HBSc) with a specialist in Mental Health from the University of Toronto. I have also completed an eating disorder sensitivity course with Body Brave.

As someone who has overcome anxiety, body image issues and a binge-eating disorder, I am passionate about helping people heal through their traumas and help them overcome their own struggles. I plan to grow my professional expertise by pursuing additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

Some fun facts about me… I am well-informed on Indian and Arab culture, having lived in both India and the United Arab Emirates for most of my childhood years. I also create mental health content on Instagram and Tiktok to help break down the stigma around mental health and help educate people on some general mental health topics. Lastly, I am an avid romance/fantasy reader and a hardcore Swiftie!
